Last Time??
Since its already past 1:30 AM, I suppose I can say later today I will be heading back to the US to spend two weeks with my family for Christmas and New Years.
さあ、今もう午前1時30分以下なので、
親と一緒にクリスマスとお正月などを過ごすために、
今日は帰国すると言えるね。

But before then, I've been working hard translating Game Lab trying to get at least one issue finished before departing. This may be the last Game inferno article I translate for the year (unless I find time otherwise...), so please enjoy Part 1 of Mana's review on Tokyo Game Show!!
でも、まずは出発の前にゲームラボを英訳してみたかった。
年末で最後の英訳しているゲームラボかもしれない(時間がないなら…)
英語が分かる方々へ、Mana様の東京ゲームショウレビュー第一弾を楽しんでください!!

Mana-Sama once again advents TGS! Review of the latest console PS4

Since it goes along with the serialization I do in this magazine,
I went to the Tokyo Game Show venue for the first time in some odd 10 years.

To say the least, it was valuable place for the next generation game consoles, Playstation 4 and XboxOne, at the game show this time. Additionally, I would be able to touch and experience the actual machines before anyone else so I couldn't stop shaking straight from the entrance.

Once again being emotionally moved just like the first time!?
Impressions on playing the actual machine

I visited the venue at Makuhari Messe for the first day of the Game Show, the 19th. I joined the chief editor in front of the entrance and entered the venue......

On the 19th, authorized people gathered for the business day. Even though I looked around the premises, I couldn't find anybody else wearing make up but me (smiles).
However, the grounds were covered with female models in showy dresses, but that doesn't mean they were just wandering around like that. Probably.

As for me, this time I made my way to the SCE booth right from the start so I could come into contact with the ultra special showpiece, the PS4. "NACK" as well as others were announced to be included with the Japanese version unit when it goes on sale, and they even prepared 10 titles for you to experience, but it turns out there was a long line due to the high degree of attention it was attracting. Once I got there my choice was a racing game called "Drive Club". I love the genre so I wanted to experience it in the world of the PS4. The line for "Drive Club" was comparatively less crowded, so before long I made it to the trial play system. First of all there was a simple lecture from a booth girl. At this time she asked "Would you like to use the steering wheel as your normal controller? Or would you like to use the motion controller?" It was difficult because I had never played with a motion controller before. I probably don't need to explain it to the readers of this magazine, but to put it simply the controller itself becomes a steering wheel and you can turn by tilting it.

It transitioned to the starting place on the screen and the engine revved up on standby. As soon as the light turned green I pushed the accelerator at full speed!! My car vigorously rushed out......and just then I had no idea which button changed the point of view so I got a little bit hasty (sweats).
At first I wanted to test the back shot to look at the car. But once I got used to it the first person view had more of an impact.

However, an unforeseen accident occurred! I'm inexperience with the motion controller so without knowing how to use the handling very well I crashed into a wall. I felt embarrassed because I didn't know if all the great number of people in the vicinity for business day would think things like "This showy dark person is horrible at games......"
"That was an ordinary operational procedure!" I yelled inside my head and was immediately delayed.

Setting aside that horror story, my biggest interest was the PS4's graphics efficiency. My impressions when I came into contact with the actual machine were, "Although it may be beautiful to some, I was surprised that it didn't feel any different in comparison to the PS3," to be completely honest.

When the PS3 took over from the PS2, I stood still in shock over the evolution of the graphics in the game shop, but.......

Nonetheless, naturally theres no mistaking the abilities of the PS4 are upped, and the console's mastery with the expressive power of games has grown exceptionally. So from hereafter, it's performance will probably be the key to how it will capitalize.

How will the console sommelier, Mana-Sama, evaluate the PS4?

That said, from here I'm going to state my thoughts on my experience with the PS4, but how can the game maniac in me not talk about the form of the PS4!

But before that, I want to try to take a look back at the whole PS series all at once up until now.

First of all the first generation PS truly appeared to be a game console, or in other words, it was a safe design. Continuing on to the PS2, I was in shock as I said "The concept of game consoles have changed!", it was a historic affair. It was flexible so it could stand vertically, and it's organic black body was like a monolith.
Also, the PS mark on the unit was tenderly crafted to rotate 90 degrees no matter which way you placed it, vertical or horizontal. While the PS3 followed the former generation consoles, it took on a roundness making it a beautiful shape. It was a good design that had a top class air about it as you put the disks into the in-slot.

So now this time, the PS4! ......But, "Hmmm" I can't really say anything. Its sort of returning to the PS2 concept design (tears).

If I dare to raise this, I'd say the body is oblique although the diamond shape is a bit different, but mostly there is no difference?
Maybe they've run out of ideas?

I reviewed it with a strict eye, but be that as it may, I'm anticipating the PS4. In accordance with the hardware concept I definitely want to savor my experiences with the new games.

Mana-Sama

Footnote:
Concerning the PS2 design, there was a vertical stand that was sold separately which had a depth that made the world believe it was transparent and the blue [color of it], in a single word, was 'wonderful'. In regards to the PS4, while I listed various things, theres still one more new console, the XboxOne, that I want to touch on but I didn't have enough space on the pages in this magazine. The next issue will be in regards to the XboxOne with another episode pending that I will introduce.(Mana)

Although there are many things I'd like to say about this article, I should probably try to get some rest before I need to leave. Once I'm at the airport I might be bored anyway, so you may actually see more updates on here later!!
